Senate to begin screening of ministerial list today

After the submission of the ministerial list by President Muhammadu Buhari, The Senate has announced the postponement of its annual recess for one week.

The annual recess, which will end in September 26th, was initially billed to start on Friday July 26th but after receiving the President list, the Senate will now postpone the commencement of the recess to enable members screen the ministerial nominees forwarded by the President.

Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, the Chairman, Senate ad hoc committee on Media and Public Affairs, stated this while addressing journalists on Tuesday.

He said since the exercise would be thorough, the Senate would suspend its rules to sit beyond 2pm and conduct plenary on Mondays and Fridays until all the nominees have been successfully screened.
