Job Summary:
- As a structural engineer you will be responsible for accurately working out the structural integrity of a proposed construction and ensuring it meets regulations such as health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all structural works mechanical, electrical, and services.
- Interpret drawings and designs, structural and architectural
- Design layout of energy distribution, water pipes, and ventilation systems.
- Ensuring projects meet legal, environmental, and health and safety standards
- Advising on suitable materials for a build
- Inspecting buildings to assess their structural integrity
- Assessing whether a site is suitable for construction and advising on building repairs or demolition
- Negotiating contracts with clients especially in consulting work.
- Working with designers to develop construction plans and blueprints
- Improving a structure’s energy efficiency
- Delivering progress reports
- Promote energy efficiency and other sustainability issues.
Requirements:
- A degree in civil or structural engineering accredited by the Institution of Structural Engineers.
- 3 years of relevant work experience as a Structural Engineer
- Project and budget management skills
- Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
- Sound understanding of physics and mathematics.
- Ability to liaise with professionals from other disciplines.
- Three-dimensional conceptual skills.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and IT skills.
- Proximity to the Island is essential.
