The results were supposed to be out today but the examination body said the postponement was due to the violence and arson in the country which affected some of its offices and some of its operations nationwide.
The unrest experienced in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protests against police brutality had forced governments to impose curfew in their respective states.
“WASSCE SC 2020 Results Release Date: Dear candidates, the Council had planned to release the results today in fulfilment of our Project 45 but due to the curfew imposed last week, it had to be postponed till next week.
“The exact date will be made known soon,” @waecnigeria tweeted on Wednesday.

Seemingly, the body warned that inadequate preparation would not be an excuse for examination malpractice, noting that the examination slated to hold from August 3 to September 5, would be conducted from Monday to Saturday.
Insideojodu had earlier reported that the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, said on Monday that school facilities would be made available for revision classes ahead of the examination.
“Schools must provide wash-hand buckets with running water, soaps, hand sanitizers and thermometer hand-gun to check the temperature of all concerned.
“All examination functionaries, including the Council’s staff on distribution; Supervisors; Invigilators, Inspectors; candidates and school officials will be required to wear face masks, wash and sanitize their hands daily and throughout the duration of the examination.
“Let me assure you and the general public that we shall adhere strictly to social/physical distancing in the examination halls by making sure that candidates sit two (2) metres apart.
“This means that many more classrooms will be used and many more supervisors and invigilators required to conduct the examination.
“This has raised the need for the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to staff, supervisors and other examination officials,” he said.
In her address on the free registration of candidates for the Examination, Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, disclosed that the E-registration has been scheduled to take-off from Thursday, 9th January to Friday, 31st January 2020, and will cover the 322 Senior Secondary Schools in the state with a total of 47,804 candidates benefitting from the free registration for the WASSC Examination by the State government.
She noted that this e-registration exercise would require the full attendance of candidates and cooperation of all Principals for a hitch-free exercise, adding that candidates must be regular and punctual in school so as to be captured in the exercise.
Preceding the commencement of the e-registration of candidates, the Lagos State Ministry of Education has also commenced the training of E-Registration (Data Capturing) Officers drawn from within the Ministry of Education and the 6 Education Districts in the state.
