The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released results of candidates who sat for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination between last Saturday and Tuesday.

This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by JAMB’s Head of Media, Fabian Benjamin.

He stated that the results for subsequent days would be released daily.

According to the statement, candidates are to check their results by sending UTMERESULT to 55019 through the GSM number used by each candidate to obtain profile code and UTME registration with the board and their results would be sent to them.

The statement read, “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released the results of candidates who sat in more than 720 CBT centres for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted between Saturday, June 19 and Tuesday, June 22, 2021.

“Each concerned candidate is advised to check his/her result by sending UTMERESULT to 55019 through the GSM number used by each candidate to obtain profile code and UTME registration with the Board and their results would be relayed to them. Results for subsequent days would be released daily.

“The Board notes with satisfaction that the utilisation of NIN (National Identification Number) has helped in curbing examination malpractices as the 2021 UTME has recorded the least incidence of irregularities since the inception of the CBT examinations in Nigeria.

“Nevertheless, the Board would still review all the CCTV (closed circuit television) footage and other technical gadgets for detection of possible examination misconducts.

“Extremely comparatively few results are being withheld for further investigation.

“In addition, the Board would not hesitate to withdraw the results of any candidate subsequently found to have committed any form of examination misconduct.”

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Wednesday, said the introduction of the National Identification Number (NIN) in its examination exercise helped in eliminating multiple registrations, impersonation and other malpractices associated with examinations.

The board disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday through its Spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin.

According to the statement, the partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) which mandated the use of NIN in the registration process made it virtually impossible for hired examination takers to register multiple times.

Benjamin noted that NIN was a good initiative because it had helped to clean the system and restored its credibility.

According to him, it is an error of fact to denigrate the wonderful contribution of NIN to UTME registration process by insinuating that it had deleterious effect on the financial base of the board.

“On the contrary, JAMB greatly appreciates the partnership with NIMC which has led to the inadvertent benefit of revealing the actual number of candidates registered annually.

“Consequently, it is the board’s firm belief that the introduction of NIN has helped in addressing one of the fundamental channels of perpetrating examination malpractice by way of multiple applications, among others.”

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board  (JAMB) has announced that the result of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be released today, Wednesday, June 23.

The JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this on Wednesday during a news conference in Enugu.

“The result ought to be out by now, but because I am not at the headquartres and I do not want to approve it while on the field.

“But as soon as I get to Abuja today all the examinations up to the one being taken today will be approved and released because we have no reason to continue to hold on to it,” he said.

He noted that JAMB registered 1,415,501 candidates in the UTME 2021 and 1,122, 095 had taken the examinations so far while 66,111 had yet to take.

According to him, the board has some 650 examination centres across the country, out of which, 30 centres have been delisted for performing below standard.

“53 centres are currently under watch while 600 of them performed excellently.

“It is our wish and desire that the board will continue to ensure that such non performing centres with ulterior motive will not be allowed to participate in the exercise,” he said.

Oloyede explained that the use of National Identity Number (NIN) as directed by the federal government helped to reduce examination malpractice during the examinations.

“We were talking about the bogus 2.2 million candidates, but it has become clearer that more than 500,000 of such number are fake and duplication.

“And we were able to detect this through NIN and now we have realistic number of JAMB candidates,” the registrar said.

“Apart from registration fee, we did not collect any other money from candidates, but some pay as far as N25,000 to some elements to help them.

“Even some parents were paying N1,000 to somebody who did not finish primary six to help their children, but they will surely pay for it because we will delist them,” he said.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed candidates who were scheduled to take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in delisted centres to print new examination notification slips.

Recall that JAMB delisted 25 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres that failed to conduct examinations on Saturday, June 19  at the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin in a short statement said the exam body asked the candidates to start printing their notifications from Sunday for their new scheduled date and time.

“This applies only to centres delisted. You will recall that 24 centres were delisted for performing below the tolerable limit of the Board, while over 40 others were put on the watchlist,” the statement read.

Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board has extended the registration for 2021/2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination to June 15 for candidates who have not completed their registration process.

The board advised candidate who falls in this category to visit special centres to finish the process.

This is was contained in a statement on Monday by the JAMB’s spokesman Fabian Benjamin.

The statement was titled “Completion of 2021 UTME/DE registration for candidates who did not register within the stipulated time and the extension period.”

Benjamin explained that the extension was for only those who could not complete their registration during the earlier scheduled registration period.

He pointed out that only candidates whose names were compiled after giving reasons for the incomplete registration process and had been contacted “are expected to visit the centres.”

JAMB further explained, “At the end of the period originally scheduled for the 2021/2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination and Direct Entry registration on May 15, the registration period was extended.

“Another two weeks that elapsed on May 29 was given to accommodate candidates who, largely due to issues related with newly introduced pre-requisite of National Identification Number, could not register.”

It noted that an “additional extension of two weeks” was made to compile the list of all prospective candidates who, for any reason, were unable to register.

“The candidates who have not registered but have secured the profile codes and initiated the registration process are expected to visit the specially designated registration centres to complete the registration on Tuesday, June 15,” he added.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Friday announced that the chances of postponing the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is very high.

JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this at a virtual meeting with 2021 UTME committee members on Friday.

According to him, the exam might be postponed because of the inability of at least 600,000 candidates who have indicated interest to participate, to register for the examination scheduled to hold between June 5 and 19.

He disclosed that 1.1 million candidates have so far registered for the 2021 UTME, and the board anticipated approximately 1.9 million registrations at the end of the exercise.

Professor Oloyede noted that while 50 per cent of the candidates have already registered without problem, there was a need to carry everyone along.

He stated that at the end of the meeting with the stakeholders, they would decide on whether to shift the exam forward or not.

“The possibility of shifting the exam forward is still high, but that will be determined after our meeting with stakeholders.

“This is because about 600,000 candidates who have indicated interest in the exam are yet to register. There is a need to give everyone the opportunity,” Professor Oloyede said.

The examination body, which is responsible for the conduct of the entrance examination into the nation’s tertiary institutions, had directed candidates to provide two pictures in the exam script – that of who register for the exam and of persons who register for the National Identification Number (NIN).

The NIN, which is a unique number that identifies individuals, is issued by the country’s National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) upon enrolment.

The JAMB registrar apologised for the new initiatives introduced in the 2021 UTME, noting that it was not to punish candidates but to expose candidates who engage in the habit of indulging in various forms of malpractices.

While calling on the candidates to take note of the process, Professor Oloyede clarified that the essence was to dictate any disparity in the process.

“We apologise for putting you through some hardship in the registration. The government directed that anyone participating in JAMB must have their NIN. This is beyond our control. Those who are yet to register should do so.

“The MOCK exam is bill to come up on Thursday. It is an exam meant to test out capability. As you all know, the main exam is coming up on June 5 and 19, 2021,” he told the meeting.

The JAMB boss added, “We are meeting with stakeholders today to discuss the issues and on whether we will shift the exam date forward or not. We will brief the media on the outcome of the meeting tomorrow.

“Shifting the exam date is not the solution; at the meeting, we will discuss how some of the problems encountered by candidates would be resolved. It is important that we carry everyone along.”

He revealed that JAMB has secured about 802 exam centres across the country and 104 centres in towns.

The Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, has ordered all CBT Centres across the country not to allow parents/guardians into the registration hall again.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by JAMB Spokesman in Ilorin Office, Hassan Lawal.

The statement quoted  Oloyede as saying that the decision was made after inspecting some of the registration centres in Kwara, which were overcrowded.

“The registrar said it has been discovered that the parents/guardians are always a distraction to both candidates and the centres and at the same time, congesting the halls by not following the COVID – 19 protocols,” Oloyede was quoted as saying. Oloyede also advised  parents/guardians to stop pushing the education of their wards faster than necessary.

“For example a 14 or 15-year-old is not matured enough to undergo the process of registration and university pressure and are vulnerable to exploitation by scammers out there,” he said.

Oloyede also advised states Ministries of Education and relevant stakeholders who were saddled with the responsibility of enrollment of students into secondary schools to always ascertain the students’ true age before admittance into secondary schools.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Tuesday said the use of email would no longer be required for the processing of registration for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry.

The Registrar and Chief Executive of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, who disclosed this while speaking with journalists on Tuesday evening, explained that email would only be requested at the successful completion of the registration exercise by candidates to access information on the examination.

He said, “As from Thursday, April 15, 2021, candidates will no longer be required to provide any email address during registration.

“Consequently, candidates will have the following options to access their profile during or after registration.

“i. Mobile APP on the candidates’ phone

ii. On the 55019 option (being designed) for example admission status checking, acceptance of admission etc on their profile.

“Printing of examination slip (Notification) or Result notification slip or ticketing can be done anywhere using the candidates JAMB registration number only.

“At the conclusion of the 2021 UTME/DE registration exercise, candidates will provide their email addresses only after the 2021 UTME/DE registration exercise has been declared closed by JAMB through (a) Mobile APP on his/her registered phone

(b) Sending the word email (space then the email address) on his /her registered phone to 55019.

“The email is typed twice for correctness (Email addresses will be entered twice for validation and prevention of typographical errors.”

Oloyede said the new system was to ensure candidates’ information are not exposed to dubious cyber cafe operators and other criminal elements who in the course of UTME/ Direct Entry registration steal email passwords to perpetrate fraud.

He said an individual’s mobile phone now remains the only major tool to carry out all the registration processes.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) says it has concluded all arrangements to commence the sale of 2021/2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) registration forms.

The board disclosed this in its Vol. 2, No. 15 Weekly Bulletin of the Office of the Registrar and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.

According to the exam body, the official dates for the commencement of the sale of both documents and the conduct of the examinations would be announced not later than March 24.

The board explained that COVID-19 pandemic caused the major delay in the 2021 exercise, stressing that any ongoing sale of forms and registration was fraudulent and not associated with JAMB.

“This year’s exercise, unlike the previous years, is peculiar because of the series of disruptions to virtually all aspects of public life occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is with this extant reality in mind that the delay is being experienced, with the board embarking on series of strategic adjustments, aimed at ensuring that academic activities are not unduly impacted.

“The public is to note that the 2021 UTME/DE application forms are not yet on sale. Anybody advertising anything to the contrary is a fraudster,” JAMB warned.
