The guild’s President, Ejezie Rollas, disclosed this in a circular dated April 11, 2024 and posted on social media on Thursday.

Additionally, actors are barred from participating in any film produced by Adanma Luke until further notice.

Luke is the producer of the movie titled “The other side of life,” in which Junior Pope was starring before his death.

The AGN statement read, “Following the tragic incident of a boat mishap that claimed the life of Junior Pope and three other crew members at waterside of River Niger Cable point Asaba on April 10, all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding are hereby suspended indefinitely.

“There should be no shoot on all locations nationwide on Thursday, April 11, 2024. “The film titled ‘The other side of Life’ is suspended indefinitely.

“Also, no actor is allowed to work with Adamma Luke as a producer till further notice.

“While we keep searching for the bodies of the remaining persons, may their souls rest in peace.”

News broke on Wednesday that Junior Pope and four other crew members lost their lives in an accident while travelling by boat away from the film set.

Rollas later shared a post on his social media handle that Junior Pope survived and was receiving treatment.

He later deleted the post.

The Guild released a statement on Friday, responding to netizens who called on the association to come to the aid of its ailing member.

In the statement delivered by the Guild’s Director of Communications, Kate Henshaw, it was disclosed that the association had rendered help to Okafor even before his condition became public knowledge.

“We are compelled to make this public statement in reaction to the vituperations of some netizens over the health of one of our respected and esteemed members, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu.

We are not here to join issues with anybody, but we want to set the records straight over the public outcry that the guild and his colleagues have abandoned him at his point of need. The guild has never abandoned any of its members in need, especially with health interventions. We have been at the forefront of providing necessary support to Mr Ibu even before his health conditions were ever made public, and this has been done with the full knowledge of his family members,” she said in the video shared via AGN’s Instagram page.

Henshaw also explained that the Guild does not publicise help rendered to its members as it is against the association’s “modus operandi”.

However, in a video making rounds on the internet on Saturday, Mr Ibu’s wife disputed the Guild’s statement, claiming that no help was rendered to her husband.

According to Stella, she had tried several times to contact the Guild’s president, Emeka Rollas, but he neither picked up her calls nor replied to her texts.

“I’m not happy at all,” she said in the video “Look at the situation of things now and the AGN people are coming online to say they are supporting my husband from the beginning. Why would they come out to say they are supporting him when they are not? They have not done anything.

“I contacted Emeka Rollas, I sent him a message which he read and did not reply. The message is still there, I called him and he did not answer my calls. So why would they come out and be blabbing? To come and say what they did not do. What kind of thing is this?”

Mr Ibu shared a video via his Instagram page on Wednesday, seeking financial aid from Nigerians to help him treat “a strange and dangerous illness.”

In the clip, the 62-year-old actor revealed that the unnamed ailment was severe and doctors had recommended the amputation of his legs if the situation gets worse.

He said, “As I speak to you, I am still lying down in the hospital; the medical director of this hospital said that the best solution is, in case his new idea didn’t work, the best idea is to cut off my leg.

“Just see me, if they cut off my leg, where do I go from here? Please pray for me, talk to God Almighty, and I don’t want my legs to be cut off. Thank you so much. God bless you.”

His demise was announced by the Public Relations Officer of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Monalisa Coker.

The statement reads in part “With deep sorrow and gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the demise of Mr Uwak Auquo, popularly known as Boniface in the rested television drama series, The Village Headmaster…”

In her tweet, the veteran actress stated that the Adamawa lawmaker is not worthy to be a patron of AGN.

She tweeted “Emeka Rollas, I cannot find your handle on Twitter, my name is Kate Henshaw and I do not mince words when I say @AbboElisha is NOT worthy to be a patron of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. We have women in this guild and we do not want to be slapped!!”

Ibinabo said this during an interview with Pulse, where she was speaking about deaths and health scares in the entertainment industry.

She said “I dare to take a leap by asserting further that research into a percentage of those who have gone for checkups this 2019 will yield shocking results. They simply don’t care until it is too late. On location he eats whatever he sees and drinks whatever he finds, napping in between cuts. He decides to forget the damage such a lifestyle does to his body. He decides to ignore the danger of his steadily rising Blood Pressure, which by the way is now one of the foremost youth killers.”

Ifeanyi Dike, the chairman of the Board of Trustees of Actors Guild of Nigeria, threatened to sanction Tonto Dikeh, if she continues to portray Nollywood in a negative manner. This was in respond to some of the things Tonto Dikeh said about her failed marriage to Olakunle Churchill.

However, Tonto has replied AGN and this is what she said “I hope this fastens your sanction from your board!! Stupid fool you have not sanctioned the actresses going to Dubai to open their mouths for old men to poop inside or the ones pushing drugs! Oga shove it up your Ass nigga. If only there was an EMOJI FOR WAKA,”
