The Ekiti State Government has stepped up sensitisation of residents for support and participation in next month’s housing and population census to ensure the goals of the exercise are achieved.

The Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, who unveiled the Joint Sensitisation Committee and Security Logistics Committee for the 2023 census in Ekiti State, harped on the need to ensure the exercise was a success for effective planning and policy making.

Oyebanji charged the committee members, “As stakeholders and members of the joint committee, your roles are to ensure that all communities are covered; all residents of Ekiti and houses are enumerated; the results of the exercise are accurate; the census officials are made comfortable; and the exercise is conducted in a very secure environment and it is hitch free”.

National Population Commission Federal Commissioner, Ekiti State, Ayodeji Ajayi, also charged the committee members that, “NPC will be relying on your expertise and structures to drive the message into every home and household to drum up support and participation in the 2023 Housing and Population Census”.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Yinka Oyebode, said, “The committee, having been inaugurated by the governor in collaboration with the NPC, will by Monday split into three groups and go on tours of different communities in the three senatorial districts to further sensitize our people to ensure they cooperate and participate in the head count.”
