The Ojodu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State has appealed to the state government to provide it with a piece of land to build a market in the community.

The chairman of the LCDA, David Odunmbaku, said having a designated market in the community would help to tackle street trading.

Odunmbaku spoke at an event to mark his two years in office.

“Even if it’s just an acre of land that we are able to get from the government, we will develop it into something,” he said.

Odunmbaku said he was committed to ensuring positive change in the LCDA and appealed for the cooperation of residents.

“Our biggest challenge is ‘change,’ A lot of people are still having the mentality of ‘this is how we do things in our place’ and are not ready to change, some HODs still submit memo in paper,” he said.

He noted that even though there might be opposition from the people, he believed in their utmost cooperation if he spearheaded the movement.

“I am their son and I believe that if I talk to them, they will answer me,” he added.
