This is coming after the Gypsy King’s trans-Atlantic promotional partners Frank Warren and Bob Arum won Friday’s purse bid in Mexico City with an offer of $42 million dollars.

The Purse bids for the all-British showdown had been delayed four times this month with a final deadline falling tonight on Friday at 6 pm [GMT].

The winning bid also saves Team Fury the total £20.5 million they were prepared to pay Anthony Joshua and Whyte between them to step aside to allow the Gypsy King to fight AJ conqueror Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed world heavyweight championship.

Wembley, Cardiff, and Fury’s hometown of Manchester – possibly Old Trafford – are in the running to stage his fight with Whyte.

Warren,  in refuting Hearn’s claim that Fury had backed out of fighting Usyk first and foremost – asserted that negotiations crashed when Joshua ‘suddenly demanded an extra £5 million on top of his agreed £15 million to step aside.

That prompted Fury to lambast Joshua and Hearn as ‘the worst businessmen in the world.’

Whyte also stands to lose out to some extent financially, given the WBC have ordered a purse split of 80 to 20 per cent in favour of Fury as champion.

The long-anticipated fight between Fury and Joshua will recede further if AJ loses to Usyk a second time.

The Gypsy King, 33, ended his rivalry with the Bronze Bomber on Saturday night after securing an 11th round knockout victory in Las Vegas.

However, Fury has maintained that he will take a break before deciding his next plan with Whyte the WBC’s mandatory challenger for his title, while a unification fight against the winner of Oleksandr Usyk’s rematch with Anthony Joshua could be on the horizon.

Whyte has now come out to state that he must fight Fury next and that the WBC must compel the Gypsy King to face him.

Whyte told Sky Sports News “Fury has the belt. Wilder had the chance to fight me for three years but didn’t. Hopefully now the WBC forces my position and Fury has no choice. It’s a massive British fight, a major fight for Britain. [However] Fury is an unpredictable man who might say: ‘I am done!’ I would be lying if I said I wasn’t looking at them, I am definitely looking at fighting Fury”

He tested positive for small amounts of epimethandienone and hydroxymethandienone, two metabolites of the banned drug Dianabol.

The WBC revealed Whyte had been suspended pending an investigation. Their statement reads ‘An “A” Sample UKAD collected from Mr. Dillian Whyte in relation with his bout against Oscar Rivas yielded an adverse finding. In light of that adverse finding, and pending the outcome of the WBC’s own investigation and adjudicatory process, the WBC is provisionally suspending the WBC’s recognition of Dillian Whyte as WBC Interim World Heavyweight Champion and Mandatory Challenger of the division. The WBC has notified Mr. Whyte and his team of the WBC’s suspension, and that it will afford Mr Whyte the opportunity to present its position to the WBC at an investigative hearing which will take place at a place and time to be announced in the near future. Throughout its investigation and hearing, the WBC will afford Mr Whyte and his team the opportunity to present any available information and materials, and any exculpatory evidence they might deem appropriate.’
