The event took place early on Friday at Rumuekpe Village in the state’s Emohua Local Government District.

According to reports, the explosion happened when the engine of one of the buses carrying crude oil that had been “packed in bags” for transportation to a refinery site had begun.

It was claimed that the explosion was sparked by a spark from the car’s battery head.

The victim, only identified as a 56-year-old woman, was at the party in Knoxville when authorities were called about a woman who was severely injured in an explosion.

Once investigators arrived at the scene, roughly 40 miles southeast of Des Moines, the woman was pronounced dead, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.

It was determined the woman died after the gender reveal caused an explosion, the Des Moines Register reported. Debris from the explosion flew through the air, reportedly hitting the victim and severely wounding her.

Officials did not release further information about the incident. However, gender-reveal parties often make headlines for their disastrous outcomes.

Another gender-reveal party that resulted in an explosion was in April 2017, when a U.S. Border Patrol agent shot a rifle of the highly explosive substance Tannerite near Green Valley, Ariz., sparking the Sawmill Fire that caused more than $8 million worth of damage.

Local media reported that the 67-year-old and 38-year-old were both severely wounded in the blast at their home near Muenster. Two horses, which had been brought inside the building, were also injured and later euthanized. Three police officers suffered minor injuries.

The women had been involved in long-term strife with their landlord and planned the gas explosion on their eviction day, according to investigators.

They said the two apparently wanted to kill themselves, but also knew others could die in the explosion.

The house had to be torn down after the explosion and ensuing fire.

Security officials told Reuters news agency that those people wounded included tourists.

And disturbing pictures from the blast scene on social media showed at least one person covered in a pool of own blood.

The attack comes as Egypt’s vital tourism industry shows incredible signs of recuperation after years in the doldrums because of the political turmoil and violence that followed a 2011 uprising that toppled former leader Hosni Mubarak.

And in less than six months, this is the second to target foreign tourists near the famed pyramids.

A political analyst, Timothy Kaldas, a non-resident fellow at US-based, The Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy said it was “too early to know” who was responsible for Sunday’s blast.

Kaldas told Al Jazeera, “The last time we had an attack on a tourist bus that had been leaving the pyramids in December, no one ended up claiming responsibility.

“Historically these sorts of attacks have been followed by announcements of raids on different militant groups outposts.”
