New York Times reported that Haspil who was arrested early on Friday, July 17, is believed to have intentions of killing Saleh after he found that he (suspect) embezzled tens of thousands of dollars from him.  Saleh did not report the alleged theft to authorities but brokered a repayment plan with Haspel.

He is expected to be charged in a criminal complaint with second-degree murder and other crimes. The police are expected to announce the arrest at a news conference later on Friday.

Saleh was found dead in his Manhattan’s Lower East Side apartment on Tuesday, July 14, with his body dismembered.

An autopsy by the city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Thursday that Saleh died as a result of stab wounds to the neck and torso and found his manner of death to be a homicide. Authorities are still investigating Saleh’s death. He was last seen in surveillance video getting into an elevator in his apartment building and a man dressed in all black — who police believe is Saleh’s assailant — entering the elevator with him, according to the law enforcement official.

The statement reads “The headlines talk about a crime we still cannot fathom. Fahim is more than what you are reading. He is so much more. His brilliant and innovative mind took everyone who was a part of his world on a journey and he made sure never to leave anyone behind. There are no words or actions to provide any of us comfort except the capture of the person who exhibited nothing short of evil upon our loved one”

Saleh was found dead in his New York apartment with the dismembered body of the deceased in a building on E Houston at Suffolk Street on the Lower Eastside at about 3:30 pm on Tuesday, according to New York Daily News.

The officers said they went thereafter the deceased’s sister called 911 because she had not seen her brother in a day.

The Officers also said the limbless, headless torso of the 33-year-old was found with an electric saw lying next to the remains.

Also, Hussain Elius, a ’Pathao’ Co-founder while reacting to his gruesome murder said they were shocked to hear of his demise.

”We are shocked and saddened to hear the reports of the death of Fahim Saleh, one of the founding members of the Pathao team.

“Fahim believed in the potential for technology to transform lives in Bangladesh and beyond.

“He saw the promise in us when all we had was a common purpose and a shared vision.

“He was, and will forever remain, an incredible inspiration for Pathao and our entire ecosystem,” he said.

Fahim was born in Saudi Arabia to Bangladeshi immigrants.

He started Gokada, a motorcycle ride-sharing company in Lagos, in 2018 and raised $5.3 million in venture capital in June 2019.

The business, however, faced major setbacks and mass layoffs after Lagos State banned commercial motorcycles (Okada) from operating, in January 2020.
