Vehicular queues have resurfaced in some filling stations in the Ojodu LCDA area of Lagos State causing heavy traffic on major routes within the area.

A trip around Ojodu from Berger to Grammar school, Omole, and down to Ogba, cars were spotted queuing by the roadside to gain access to the filling station as passengers were seen stranded at bus stops with fewer cars on the road.

Movement from Omole to Berger has been very slow due to several queues at the filling station.

In some areas of the LCDA, fuel is sold in black markets at the rate of N400- 1000 per litre.

The fuel crisis has also affected the cost of transportation as fares have doubled around every area of the local government.

Checks by InsideOjodu revealed that Beger to Agege which use to be #150, now cost #200, and Berger to Ogba is #150 instead of #100.

During a conversation with our correspondent, a motorist identified as Shola said, “The fuel issue is something that has become very serious, I’ve been on the queue for over 2 hours now and am yet to get fuel. All my schedule for today has been disrupted.”

A bus driver, while speaking to us said, “I couldn’t get fuel at the filling station, I had to buy the black market as it was necessary to work, so I have no option but to increase the transport fare it will reduce once the fuel is available,” he said.

InsideOjodu recalls that the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency, Mr. Farouk Ahmed, had assured Nigerians of adequate fuel supply following claims that the petrol with high methanol has been withdrawn from the public.

But, with today’s development that seems not to be the case as the shortage of petrol in Lagos has worsened.
