Babaita made this disclosure on Friday, in a press statement obtained by our correspondent which was signed by Public Relations Officer Mahid Abubakar, stressing that the strike notice was meant to cause disaffection between the public and the force.

The CP urged members of the public to disregard the fake news and go about their lawful businesses without fear of harassment or molestation of any kind, admonishing officers to maintain high standard of discipline which he said is the bedrock of the force.

Babaita said, “The attention of Gombe State Police Command has been drawn to inciting news being spread across some sections of the media, particularly the social media platforms that some members of the force will be embarking on a strike action with effect from March 26, 2022.

“The purported strike is fake, deliberate and calculated attempt by some unpatriotic individuals to cause disaffection between Police and the Public.

I wish to implore the good people of Gombe State, to disregard this misinformation and to assure them that, officers and men of the Command are compassionate servants of the citizens and there is no iota of truth on Police embarking on strike.”

Babaita explained that the police under the current Inspector General of Police Usman Baba has taken the affairs of its staff seriously.

Commissioner of Police, Ishola Babaita, stated this through a statement made available to journalists in the state.

He condemned the burning of APC stand, PDP secretariat and Atiku campaign office, located along the Gombe/ Bauchi Expressway.

According to him, the command is miffed over the unfortunate incident where some unidentified miscreants at about 1130pm on 31st January 2022 and early morning of 1st February 2022 burnt down APC Stand at Shongo Idrisa along Airport Road, PDP State Secretariat opposite Bauchi Park and Atiku for President 2023 North East Business Community along Bauchi Road.

While urging political parties to eschew violence, the police asked parents to monitor the activities of their wards in order not to be willing tools.

“The Command is using this medium to warn any person or group of persons to know that it is not yet time for political campaigns. All aggrieved parties should remain calm and law-abiding and give cooperation to the Command while effort is on top gear to unravel those behind the heinous act.The Command lastly wishes to advise the general public and the good people of Gombe State to warn their wards to be wary of politicians who may mislead them into political thuggery,” Babaita added.
