The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service on Friday said that no casualty was recorded in the tanker explosion in Ijora area of Lagos State.

The General Manager of the service, Margaret Adeseye, who confirmed this in a statement in Lagos, said the fire had been controlled.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the tanker explosion happened on the bridge connecting Ijora, Orile, and Costain area of Lagos on Thursday night.

“The raging fire has been curtailed as the dampening of pockets of fire continues to allow for investigation to reveal the cause and the evacuation of the carcass to bring about normalcy.

The incident affected 11 vehicles comprising of two tankers, one tipper truck, three trailers, three cars, and two micro-mini busses,” she said.

NAN reports that the Southwest Coordinator National Emergency Management Agency Mr Ibrahim Falinloye said, the fire from the tanker burnt 13 vehicles which include two buses, two cars, a trailer loaded with Sardines and detergents, one Sport utility vehicle (SUV), three flat body trailers, two 20 feet containers, and two PMS tankers.

The carcasses of the burnt vehicle are being evacuated by LASEMA.

A seven-year-old boy has reportedly died in a fire that engulfed two residential buildings in the Mile 12, Ketu area of Lagos State, on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said due to a delay in distress call, the raging fire caused severe damage to the buildings.

“A fire outbreak that engulfed a residential building at 19, Adekanbi Street, off Alli Street, Mile 12, Ketu, Lagos involved two bungalow structures,? the statement real. Due to delay in distress call, the raging fire has caused severe damage to the buildings and a male child of about seven years old was recovered from the building and suspected dead before the spread of the fire was confined and eventually subdued. Both operations have been concluded amid 15 Emergencies recorded between 08:00 hours and the time of this release.?”

Fire has gutted a warehouse on Idumagbo Avenue, in Obun Eko area of Lagos Island, Lagos State.

The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.

She stated that the agency would commence an investigation into the cause of the incident, adding that no death or injury had been recorded in the incident.

Adeseye said, “The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently putting out a fire incident at 34, Idumagbo Avenue, Obun Eko, Lagos.

The agency, which was alerted at 12:31 pm on Monday, mobilised the Ebute Elefun and Oniru fire stations to stop the raging fire at the three story-penthouse building.

“The fire which happened at a warehouse on the third floor of the building which stocked towels, bedspread, tape rules among others, with a commercial bank on the ground floor.

“The Lagos firefighters being complemented by sister agencies have been able to subdue the fire to the third floor and the penthouse it had spread to while saving the bank and other floors as well as adjoining structures. There has been no reported case of injury nor death as investigation into the cause will ensue immediately.”
