The announcement was made by Kunle Adesina, the Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, through a post on his X account on Monday.
Adesina revealed that Commissioner Wahab, in collaboration with Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, issued the notice following an inspection tour of the Ikota River corridor.
The inspection aimed to assess the level of compliance by property owners whose buildings and fences infringe upon the approved seven-meter setback on both sides of the channel.
Highlighting the specifics of the notice, Adesina stated, “The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab on Sunday issued a seven-day contravention notice to owners of buildings lying within the seven-metre setback on Orchid rd, Agungi, Ajiran, Conservation Road, Osapa all along the Ikota River.”
As the Lagos State government reiterates its commitment to enforcing regulations, it recently emphasized that more structures will face demolition in the state.

An eyewitness, who preferred anonymity, said some of them were injured while a few others were dispossessed of their valuables.
“The supporters were coming out of a street around the Maruwa bus stop when some boys emerged from nowhere and accosted them. This led to a confrontation and before we knew it, the boys started to attack them.
Five people were injured and most of them were females. Some of the supporters also lost their phones in the process,” the eyewitness disclosed.
It was gathered that some of the hoodlums later fled the scene of the attack while the unlucky ones were overpowered and apprehended by the party supporters who took them to a nearby police station
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.
He said, “The incident was reported to the police around 6:30 pm. Three phones were stolen and one laptop damaged.”
Recall that The PUNCH reported that the Lagos police confirmed that no fewer than four persons were injured in an attack on supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
Describing the attack on Obi’s supporters as “regrettable” the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the attack happened about 15km away from the rally venue, adding that the State Criminal Investigations Department would take over investigations towards apprehending and prosecuting the attackers.
The attack happened in the Ilasan area of Eti-Osa Local Government and the Jakande Ward Chairman of the Labour Party raised the alarm.

Recall that the Special Adviser Lagos State Governor on Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Ope George, on Thursday expressed the state’s readiness to construct a new airport on the Lekki axis.
George revealed that the Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led government had sought and obtained approval from the Federal Government for the construction of the new airport in Lagos.
He said thst the project, expected to take off in 2023, would be constructed on 3,500 hectares of land.
Reacting to the development, Adurigboye assured that the aviation regulatory body would monitor the project from beginning to end when the time comes.
“NCAA is not opposed to developmental strides, and the initial approval comes from the Federal Ministry of Aviation, while NCAA also gives its approval.
“We will also supervise it from beginning to the end and certify it okay before the usage of the airport” he said.
Adurogboye said building an airport around the axis meant infrastructure development, which was good for the economy, the community and the state where it is situated.

Idowu stressed that Lekki Phase 1 was congested and already had many private jetties.
Noting that the project is laudable, he said the location should be taken into account so as not to worsen traffic challenges.
“It is laudable because it will serve the whole axis including up to Victoria Garden City. But it does not have to be located in Lekki Phase 1 which is already congested,’’ he said.
LERA however assured that it was willing to suggest locations that would be suitable for the project.
Lekki Estate Ferry Terminal Ltd. on August 19 announced that the construction would begin in September.
The terminal, owned by Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, would be sited on Admiralty Way waterfront.
It would service the residents of Lekki, Ajah, Igbo Efon, Ikota, Awoyaya, Lakowe, Sangotedo, and environs.

Due to the protest on going at Barracks, it has backlogged traffic from Fadeyi moving inward barracks at the point of the protest to Ketu Ojota axes of the road.

This is coming in less than a week that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu celebrated the successful usage of the waterways by residents 6 months after it was relaunched without any accidents.
The Governor said, “Today, we are celebrating a small but important milestone. In 6 months since we relaunched our bid to allow more residents to use our waterways, we have not had any accidents. Our safety regulations and water patrol teams are working and we are seeing the results.”
The boat was said to have capsized due to the wave of the water.
The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the incident said a search a rescue operation was still on to locate the missing person.
“On arrival at the incident scene, information gathered was that four adult males on an expedition were inside a local boat which capsized around 4.30pm due to water turbulent.
“The quick collaborative effort of responders in the area were able to rescue three alive while one person is still missing.
“The rescued victims were provided with medical care. A search and rescue operation is still ongoing,” he said.
The governor stated this while addressing state House correspondents after a tour of the Victoria Island-Lekki-Ajah axis over traffic gridlock and flooding issues today Wednesday July 10th.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said the toll plaza would be left open between 6.30am -9.30am and 4.30pm -8.00pm.
According to the governor, the purpose for the toll suspension is to enable his government carry out traffic situation analysis in the area with a view of finding lasting solutions to the issue of traffic gridlock in the area.
