Your partners are part of your support team, so it is really important that you maintain great relationships with them if you really want to enjoy your journey. Whether as a business owner, or employee, your life would most certainly revolve around people – your partners. And to get the very best from those people, you’d need a solid working relationship with them.

You don’t have to constantly be on different pages with your partners all the time, and I will show you just how to pull that off. Stay glued because in this article I will be giving you five great tips to maintain solid relationships with your partners.

1. Give room for exceptional communication

Communication breeds growth when it comes to relationships. Create an atmosphere that makes it possible for both yourself and partners to be able to share challenges, ideas, and praises. When you do this, everyone wouldn’t have to carry on grudges or have to feel like they are not heard.

2. Be a giver

This is a really great tip that I got from the awesome book, ‘Give and Take’ by Adam Grant. He talks about three types of people – takers, matchers, and givers. The takers are more fixated on getting way more than they receive.

The matchers like theirs 50-50 – so, they’re more likely to feel indebted when someone does them a favor and then, there are the givers. These ones let go of themselves with reckless abandon. Adam Grant found that these sets of people report to experience more significantly satisfying relationships.

3. Always learn from mistakes

You won’t have the “perfect” relationship with your partners. There are bound to be some issues here and there; and once in a while. While that is bound to happen, you have to anticipate problems.

When a misunderstanding pops up, try as much as possible to learn something about the other person in the process. Remember that as a team, you all are imperfect people trying to cover up on each other’s weaknesses, while trying to make the best use of your strengths.

4. Let go of expectations

Everyone walks around with expectations about life, and other people. “You should never talk to someone like that!” “They should never do this…” “They should never do that…”

But, this cloud of expectations hanging over all our heads can be really disastrous to maintaining a solid relationship with people. It has destroyed a lot of relationships that would otherwise have been wonderful if they had just been more accepting of the other party.

Here’s one of the best quotes I have ever heard about relationships: “Accept people as they are and not as you want them to be.”

5. Be positive

This is a really contagious one because when you have it under your belt, people around you seem to share into that feeling – creating a great positive atmosphere in the process. Walk around feeling positive in all you do. Don’t be the naysayer.

Make your partners believe in themselves. Always tackle problems with optimism, have a million reasons you just have to succeed at what you are pursuing, and be the glimmer of hope your partners just wants to see. They’ll respect you more when you can bring something as significant as this to the table.
