Captain Jamil Abubakar, the son of a former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has defended the killing of blasphemers.

Jamil, who is an experienced pilot and President of JMD Foundation, a non-profit organisation, said this in a tweet on Friday night.

Jamil, who is a son-in-law to Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, said this amid the outrage generated from the killing of Deborah Samuel, a student in Sokoto State that was murdered by her colleagues for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad.

The pilot argued that all religions frown at blasphemy and warned people to respect the beliefs of others.

He tweeted, “In Islam we respect the Injil, Taura, Zabur, we were never taught to disrespect any of the book, or any of the prophets From Adam to Muhammad SAW and the Quran. The punishment for blasphemy is death! in most religions including Christianity. Respect people’s religion. It’s simple!”

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Abubakar, says the Federal government is doing everything possible to bring up stimulus that will crash food prices.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Abubakar, said this in Abuja during a familiarization tour of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria on Monday, November 15.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari is very passionate about agriculture and is committed to seeing that people had “food to eat every single day without struggles on their tables.”

He said “We’re doing everything possible to bring up some kind of stimulus that’ll cause a reduction in food prices. Naturally, nobody will just sit and watch. We’re doing what we can to see that the agricultural sector is improved and the food that we expect for the teeming population of Nigeria is being produced, the same thing with the livestock.”

The son of the embattled former chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTT), Faisal Maina has escaped to the United States of America (USA) after sneaking into the Niger Republic through one of the nation’s porous borders in Borno State.

This was disclosed by a lawyer with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mohammed Abubakar, at the resumed hearing in his money laundering trial before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja today Thursday, February 4.

Recall that Faisal like his father went underground after he was granted bail by the court. While his father was re-arrested in the Niger Republic on December 1, 2020, Faisal remained elusive until EFCC recently got intelligence that he has fled to the US where he is believed to be a citizen.

In a ruling earlier, Justice Abang ordered among others, that a House of Representatives member, Sani Dan-Galadima (representing Kaura-Namoda Federal Constituency of Zamfara), who stood surety for the fleeing Faisal, should forfeit his property, worth N60million, which he pledged as a guarantee for the N60m bail bond he signed.

Maina is currently in EFCC custody. He is being prosecuted on 12 counts of money laundering to the tune of N2bn by the EFCC.

An Abuja federal high court has ordered for the arrest of Faisal Maina, the son of former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team Abdulrasheed Maina who jumped bail, for jumping bail in his trial on money laundering charges

Justice Okon Abang who disclosed that his trial on money laundering charges would proceed in absentia pending his arrest, also summoned his surety, a member of the House of Representatives, Sani Umar Dangaladima representing the Kaura-Namoda Federal Constituency of Zamfara State, to appear in court to show cause why he should not forfeit the N60m bail bond which he signed for the ex-pension boss’ son.

The order for Faisal’s arrest was granted after EFCC’s prosecution counsel, Mohammed Abubakar notified the court that the defendant and his surety had not attended court since June 24, 2020.

At the court proceeding on Tuesday, November 24 which neither Faisal, his surety, nor his lawyer attended, Abubakar applied for the revocation of his bail which was granted by Justice Abang. He also adjourned the case till Wednesday, November 25.

This is coming a few days after the same court ordered the arrest of Faisal’s father, Abdulrasheed Maina for jumping bail in his ongoing N2.1bn money laundering trial.
