The Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), David Olusegun Odunmbaku, has approved the employment of over 150 non-pensionable staff.

With the approval, residents of Ojodu LCDA who are graduates will be deployed to hospitals, accounting and revenue departments to assist the senior staff, doctors, and nurses, while those with secondary school certificates will work as clerical assistants, security, and cleaners.

The Chief Press Secretary, Jumu’ah Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, successful candidates are to go to the council secretariat with their credentials such as academic and birth certificates, LASRRA among others.

The statement reads; “This is to inform residents of Ojodu LCDA, most especially those that submitted application letters for different non-pensionable positions at our council, that the Executive Chairman, Mr. David Odunmbaku, has fulfilled one of his electioneering campaigns promises by approving the employment of over 150 non-pensionable staff.”

“The successful candidates who are graduates will be deployed to hospitals, accounting and revenue departments to assists the senior staff, doctors, and nurses, while those with secondary school certificates will work as clerical assistants, security and cleaners.”

“With this, the first batch of the list of successful candidates has been posted at the council secretariat. The successful candidates are to come to the council with their credentials such as academic and birth certificates, LASRRA among others.”

Recall, after he assumed office, Odunmbaku dissolved the previous list of the scheme to pave way for new candidates. Despite the dissolution, his administration continues the payment of aged people in the scheme.

In his message when the aged people visited him in his office, Odunmbaku said: “It really struck through my heart that at age 65 and above you still out there struggling to survive, for me I won’t let this continue.”

“Truly we have stopped all non-pensionable staff salaries, but I have instructed your salaries to continue, at this age you should be at home relaxing not out there as gatemen, sweepers, or cleaners. Your salaries continue, go home and enjoy your old age.”

“For our youths, we want to engage them as much as we can, we want to take them out of the street, with this, we’ll reduce crime to the barest minimum,” Odunmbaku said.

According to the council chair, he cited that the scheme is to prepare them for the future and not a permanent job. “Gone are the days’ non-pensionable staff would be at the council for 10 to 15 years is gone, the current policy can not be more than two years, is for them to get engaged while they get themselves full-time employment, It’s not a permanent job.”

He assured the successful candidates that his administration will engage them in training and retraining while they are under the scheme to prepare them for their higher goal.
