Igboho is currently being held by operatives of Brigade criminelle in Cotonou. He was arrested on Monday night July 19 while attempting to fly to Germany with his wife, Ropo.

Igboho will be in the court to contest plans by the Benin republic to extradite him to Nigeria.

Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki in a live update this morning confirmed this development.

He said “I can confirm, he will have the opportunity to be heard at the Benin Republic court, they respect international law. It will be held today (Thursday) by God’s grace. The sitting will be held at 10am in morning at the Benin Republic court. The court will determine the fate of the extradition and we’ll also have the opportunity to present our case especially on the personality of Igboho..we know the magnitude of what the Nigerian government is trying to do if they try to get hold of Igboho but they will fail, by God’s grace. Their intention was to capture him (Igboho), but God fought for him”

Confirming this development, the media aide to Igboho, Olayomi Koiki, in a Facebook live this morning, said the gunmen dressed in military apparel, stormed the residence and carried out the attack.

“The situation now is very bad. Two Yoruba sons have been killed in the house of Chief Sunday Igboho. The two dead bodies have been taken away by the military. We do not know the location where they were taken to. I can confirm that those who came are definitely Nigerian soldiers. There are more than 100 soldiers that came. The situation is very active as more security operatives in about seven Nigerian Army patrol vans have arrived.”

The Nigerian Army is yet to confirm or deny any involvement in the attack

According to the media aide of the agitator, Olayomi Koiki, the gunmen adorning military uniforms carried out the attack at about 1 am. Igboho was however not in his residence at the time of the attack.

Koiki said during the attack, Igboho’s G-wagon, Prado SUV, some valuable properties including furniture, and windows were destroyed. He said bullet holes were found in cars parked on the premises while bloodstains were seen at the premises.

It was also alleged that some persons in the house including a close ally of Igboho identified as ‘Lady K’, were whisked away.

The state police command is yet to comment on this incident.
