Good day everyone, my name is Shodunke Damola from Inside Ojodu magazine online. On the show with me today is Omowunmi Rahman C.E.O of Omowunmi Fashion Design.

Damola: Good-day ma.
Wunmi: Goodday sir.

Damola : Can you tell us about yourself?.
Wunmi: My name is Omowunmi Rahman. I’m a fashion Designer and the name of my business is Omowunmi fashion house.

Damola: That’s good. When did you start this business professionally?
Wunmi : I started 15 years ago.

Damola: waoh! That’s shows you’ve been into the fashion business for a long time.
Wunmi: Very true, although it feels just like yesterday.

Damola: When you started this business, what were the challenges you faced?
Wunmi : There is no challenge you can’t over come with God’s help. When you exercise patience and put your mind at rest, you can overcome anything. Challenges are inevitable in life, let alone in a business but with patience and a vision to where you’re headed, you’d overcome anything.

Damola: when you have multiple jobs with the same deadline, how do you manage the situation?
Wunmi : We have a lot of jobs on a regular and we don’t want to ever disappoint our customers, because if we disappoint them, they won’t  patronize us again. To avoid disappointments, we work over the night, so we can meet up with our target.

Damola: That shows you’re really dedicated to your work and you’re hardworking as well.
Wunmi: yes.

Damola: I’m happy to hear that.
Wunmi : Thank you.

Damola: How do you measure your success ?
Wunmi: In my 15 years of business, I have encountered a lot of success and all I can do is thank God.

Damola: can you tell us one of it?
Wunmi: I can’t measure it all but I thank God for always being there for me .

Damola: What is your biggest failure and what did you learn from it ?
Wunmi : In business, failures are bound to happen. It’s important that you learn from them so you can adjust yourself incase of a mistake next time.
Damola: Thank you.

Damola:  if you were not a fashion designer, what would you have been?
Wunmi: I’ve loved tailoring since my childhood days but If I wasn’t into it, I would have been an accountant.
Damola: hmmm. People who count money.

Damola: How has social media helped your business?
Wunmi : It has help our businesses in different ways. Social media has made it easy for us to connect with people outside Lagos. Yes, we do negotiate through phone but they won’t be able to show us or see their preferred styles etc. Facebook, WhatsApp has helped us to negotiate on the kind of style and price.  After sewing, you post your style online and add your mobile number from there comes lots of benefits.

Damola: On my way to your office, I saw a lot of people here. Can you tell us what they were here for?
Wunmi: Those people you saw are my apprentices.

Damola: woow! That shows you’re helping and encouraging youths on their career pathway.
Wunmi : Yes. On this business, I am.

Damola: How many apprentices do you have?
Wunmi : If I’m not mistaken, they are ten in number.

Damola: Do you have any awards on this business. If you do, where were you awarded ?
Wunmi: I was awarded at the tailor Association where other fashion designers like myself and more come together. My works were seen and everyone was wowed and impressed at my work and came to a conclusion that I deserved the award.
Damola: That makes me happy.

Damola : what advice do you have for budding entrepreneurs and your apprentices?
Wunmi : My advice for them is that, there is no work which does not have challenges but if you can exercise patience and put your mind at rest on the work you are doing and endure all the challenges everything will come easy at the end.
Damola: Thank you Omowunmi .

Wunmi : I am Omowunmi  Rahman. The CEO of omowunmi fashion house. Keep watching inside ojodu magazine. It is good and a must watch for everyone. Keep watching !!
