Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the Federal governments’ decision to give poor Nigerians N5000 after the fuel subsidy is removed from February 2022.

The Minister of Finance, Zaina Ahmed, on Tuesday, disclosed that poor Nigerians will be given the sum of N5000 as transport grant once fuel subsidy has been removed.  It is projected that a litre of fuel will increase to N340 when the subsidy is removed.

Sani in a tweet posted this morning said the increase in petrol will cause an increase across all sectors in the economy. He said that the Federal government must be living on Mars to believe that the N5000 can solve any problem.

A former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said that some schools in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja have told parents to keep their children at home.

This is amid the rising insecurity in the country which has seen schoolchildren in the northern part abducted in large numbers.

Sani tweeted on Thursday “This morning, some schools in Abuja have asked parents to keep their children at home pending the security situation. The monster has reached the centre,”

In an earlier post, he said, “University lecturers and academics are becoming the targets of kidnappers; As we have seen in the attacks on the Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna State Polytechnic and now University of Abuja.”

Another post from the former lawmaker read, “The location of the University of Abuja in the Federal Capital and its proximity to military formations has not protected its inhabitants from terrorists & kidnappers. As long as the neighbouring states of the FCT are not safe, Abuja can’t be safe.”

A former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, on Friday, said sensors are needed to detect explosives planted along rail tracks.

Sani said this on Twitter following an attack by suspected bandits on an Abuja-Kaduna train on Wednesday

The lawmaker, who was on board during the attack, said, “Yesterday (Wednesday) terrorists attacked the Kaduna-Abuja railway with an explosive and opened fire on the train, targeting the engine driver and the tank. This (Thursday) morning, I was onboard when our train ran over another explosive damaging rail.”

The attack was on Thursday confirmed by the Abuja/Kaduna Train Service Station Manager, Paschal Nnorli

He said “Yes, there was an attack, but right now I cannot confirm if it was an explosive or bomb attack as people are saying. Investigations are ongoing and I’ll give you updates as they come in. Our engineers have been mobilised to the area. And right now we have suspended services.”

The suspension of service on the Abuja-Kaduna route, as announced by the Nigeria Railway Corporation, was commended by Sani.

He tweeted, “The suspension of the railway services by the NRC is the safest thing to do for now. The next is to instal the sensors to detect any explosives planted along the rail tracks. Flying to Kaduna is the next option while hoping that the road from the airport to the city will be secured.”

The Emir of Kajuru, Adamu Kajuru, and 12 persons described as “members of his family,” have been kidnapped by bandits in Kaduna State.

This was disclosed by the former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, who wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

“The Emir of Kajuru, 30 minutes drive from Kaduna and twelve of his family members were forcefully kidnapped yesternight. The bandits operated freely for one hour in the town. In my Kaduna State nowadays, it’s no more about who is safe but who is the next victim,” Shehu tweeted.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, quoting the Kaduna Stàte Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, suspected bandits in the early hours of Sunday kidnapped the Emir and 10 others in Kajuru town of Kajuru Local Government Area.

ASP Jalige told NAN in Kaduna on Sunday that the incident happened in the early hours of the day.

Jalige said the Second Class traditional ruler and the other victims were kidnapped at his residence.

The spokesperson, who did not give details of how the incident happened, said policemen had been mobilised to trail the hoodlums with a view to rescuing the victims.

“We have deployed our men to rescue them,” he said.

A former senator representing Kaduna central, Shehu Sani, has reacted to the ongoing investigation against the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu who was suspended on Tuesday, July 7.

In a Facebook post, the former Senator shared, he accused Magu of running a “cult” in the agency. Sani alleged that the select team of ”vicious and cruel” officers known as “the Magu Boys” or “the Chairman Squad”, operate exclusively and with impunity and only report directly to their boss.

Sani wrote “Contrary to the facade you see from the Outside, the EFCC has been run by an inside cult called “the Magu Boys” or “the Chairman Squad”: They are a select cream of vicious and cruel officers who operate exclusively and with impunity and only report directly to their boss. The inside cult is the dark and immoral aspect of the agency engaged in persecution, blackmail, frame-ups and cruelty. The cult has been the wheel behind the ordeal of their embattled Boss. Until they are rooted out from the agency also. I believe a lot of revelations will be coming out from other marginalized and honest officers in the so-called anti-corruption agency.!”

Shehu Sani has spoken up on his ordeal while being detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegation of extorting the Chairman of ASD Motors, Alhaji Sani Dauda of $25,000 which he allegedly promised to give to Chief Justice of Nigeria Ibrahim Muhammad to influence some pending cases in court, and also to the acting Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Ibrahim Magu.

Sani insisted that he was framed as he alleged that he was placed in the underground cell of the EFCC on the orders of its chairman.

His statement reads “I wish to thank all individuals and groups that have shown concern, support, solidarity, and prayers during my 30 days of incarceration in the underground cell of the EFCC on the orders of its chairman. With gratitude to Almighty Allah, my special appreciation to Amnesty International, SERAP, HURIWA, and other groups, numerous to mention. My incarceration for 30 days in the jail of EFCC was unfair, unjust and a clear breach of my fundamental rights and hence stands condemned. During my unjust stay in the EFCC cell, I was subjected to traumatizing interrogations; My houses and offices were searched. They compelled me to declare my assets, they tried to subject me to polygraph lie detector tests, my accounts were blocked, and my phone was seized, all in the name of fictional $24,000 or $25, 000 extortion. Any Information planted in the media by the EFCC spokesperson while I was in their custody about me is outrightly false and nothing but a bacterial and fungal infested concoctions, typical of their style. Our country will continue to be at the bottom strata of the transparency International index as long as our anti-graft agencies only use their might and arsenal to crush ants while lacking the courage, the heart, and the liver to confront the snakes, the vultures and the hyenas of the ruling establishment. They can frame me, detain me but can’t silence me. I shall abide by all the conditions of my bail and appreciate the courage, compassion, and wisdom of the court in granting me the bail. In an ideal democratic state, all agencies of the government are obliged to operate within the dictates and the ambit of the rule of law or the nation leaps into tyranny. The rule book of Stalin, The manual of Hitler or road map of Mussolini should not be the guidance and the compass of the nation’s security and anti-corruption agencies in their quest to sanitize our country.”

Former Senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to allegation of him collecting money from Sani Dauda, owner of ASD Motors which he allegedly promised to pass on to the acting chairman of the EFCC Ibrahim Magu, to influence an investigation, and also allegedly asking for more money to bribe the chief justice of Nigeria and some other judges to influence the outcome of a court case.

In a statement released on Friday after his two houses were searched by operatives of the anti-graft agency, Sani alleged that his arrest is politically motivated as he also denied trying to bribe the CJN.

The statement read “The allegations of ‘extortion’ against me are baseless, fact-less, unfounded, hollow and unsubstantial. It is a scripted stream of mischievous concoctions and utter fabrications using a puppet state agent; all aimed at splashing feces and mud on me. The extortion allegation is nothing but a wholesale falsehood, packaged in a phantom anti-graft facade to taint, stain and mute me. That shall never happen if I am alive. I have made my statement and provided all my facts against their package of lies and I demand the EFCC to make public all the sheets of our statements and supporting documents for the world to see. My detention is unfair, unjust, prearranged and politically motivated. Fascism thrives in frame-up of its critics. They claim extortion and here they are closing my bank accounts, searching my houses and offices and demanding I declare my assets, of which I have already done that at the CCB (Code of Conduct Bureau) last year when I left the Senate. Frame-up cannot silence me! I have never ever met with the CJN or any judge or judges or ever called directly or indirectly to offer to give or to give directly or indirectly any form of gratification from Alhaji Sani Dauda. I have never ever discussed with ASD on any form of bribe or gratification to be given to any judge or any EFCC official. The bribe story is phantom, the bribe story is a fake, imaginative work of fiction, cruelly crafted to smear me, to frame me and to justify my persecution. The bribe story is a heap of blatant lies and outright falsehood concocted and fabricated, using a front and the EFCC to premiere a state drama. Criminalizing me or ‘framing me’ will not silence me, bend me or compromise me.”

The Senator that represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, Comrade Shehu Sani, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to address the issues raised by some Nigerians that his government is dominated by northerners and Muslims.

Sani who is also the executive director of African Centre for Peace and Development confronted President Buhari while receiving the members of Bishara Baptist Church led by Rev. Joel Yohana in his residence in Kaduna, where they presented a book titled: ’77 Years Silent Exploit in Northern Nigeria; The untold story of Bishara Baptist Church from 1948-2019′ to the lawmaker.

He also challenged President Buhari to address issues raised by northerners that his government is only interested in executing projects in southern Nigeria.

He called on northern leaders to as a matter of urgency convene a conference to unite people of all religions and be sincere to themselves on their discussion on the way forward for the northern region as well as on the need to go back to Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto’s philosophy of peace and unity.

Senator Sani who was worried by the divisive character of the country said, “It’s over 100 years of Almagamation in Nigeria and we are still talking about North and South, Muslims and Christians. If there is good governance, nobody will care wherever you come from.

“But in our society and nation today, because of the sensitivity of religion in our lives and in our history, it is important all religions must have equitable representation in the affairs of governance if we are to be peaceful.

“It is also unfortunate that the late Sardauna of Sokoto and the founding fathers of Nigeria laid a solid foundation for unity and peace but subsequent leaders don’t see themselves representing the nation, but see themselves as representing their ethnic groups.

“The Baptist Church in Hadeja road, Kaduna is an example of unity and peace. It is a Church that is right in the middle of a Muslim community and they are living in peace with everybody. That is worthy of commendation.”

While arguing that no amount of investment brought by any government could yield positive results, as long as people are not living in peace, senator Sani, however, said the North must unite to address three challenges.

“The first one is to confront terrorism and extremism, as it is a serious threat to peace and progress of the region and country.

“The second is to confront illiteracy and ignorance. Illiteracy and ignorance have seriously caused a lot of havoc to our unity, peace and future of the region.

“The third is, we must take seriously the issue of economic well-being of our people. Because if we don’t address poverty and underdevelopment in our country, there can be no peace and development.

“We live in a country today where some people are supporting injustice because the people perpetrating it are from their tribes or ethnic groups,” he explained.
