Technical Advisor and Warranty at Weststar Vehicle Care Limited

About the role:

  • Technical Advisor and Warranty, you are responsible for performing all kinds of service operations (inspections), and maintenance repairs with the highest level of quality and efficiency.
  • Through your specialist knowledge, and appreciation of the brand and product, you promote the image of the service organisation, thus contributing to customer satisfaction.
  • You are responsible for technical support on warranty assistance to customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Overseeing the warranty department, you must be able to manage warranty claims effectively.

Responsibilities

Repair/Maintenance

  • Diagnosing and repairing vehicles when necessary.
  • Research workshop information and checking it is up to date.
  • Performing all maintenance services in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and in line with the maintenance schedule/computer.
  • Carrying out visual inspections, adjustment operations, adjustments, changing and filling operating fluids and replacing wear parts (e.g. brake linings).
  • Exchanging or replacing defective parts. Preparing the part for return if it has to be returned for reconditioning.
  • Performing defined, as well as comprehensive, assembly and repair operations in cooperation with/under the instruction of a system or Diagnosis Technician.
  • Assisting in troubleshooting and resolving technical problems faced by customers, both remotely and on-site when necessary.
  • Providing support to service technicians in diagnosing and repairing technical issues.

Warranty

  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation of warranty claims, repairs, and related activities.
  • Reviews of claims for parts and services of vehicles by determining which ones are covered by warranties. Ensure the correct information is entered into the database. Timely submission of the requests for fulfilment and maintaining databases of all customers and the warranty parts needed. If need be, request additional information on warranty requests from customers.
  • Enquiring and liaising with the Finance department to ensure payment is received in cases of partial warranties.
  • Document and track claims through its completion. Being in frequent contact with the workshop and service department claim, when necessary.
  • Collaborating with the parts department on ordering and shipping of requested parts.
  • Ensure claim legitimacy and adherence to warranty agreements and company policy by keeping abreast of company news and policies to ensure claims are assessed along the correct lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering-related field, HND, or any other relevant field is required.
  • At least 6 years of experience working in the service and workshop industry (in the automobile industry).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Willingness to learn, work and be a team player.
  • Analytical thinker and problem solver.
  • Basic automobile/technical knowledge and skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, willingness to learn and work.
  • A computer literate with proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
