President Bola Tinubu declared on Monday that the cessation of insecurity alone would not satisfy him, emphasizing that his administration would prioritize providing support to survivors affected by the ongoing insecurity in the North East.
Speaking at the palace of the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar El-Kanemi, in Maiduguri, Tinubu expressed condolences for the lives lost in the recent bombing in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State.
The President conveyed sympathy to the families of the victims, who tragically lost their lives while observing the Maulud, a significant Islamic event.
Tinubu acknowledged the gravity of the situation and pledged continued efforts to address the aftermath of insecurity in parts of Borno State.
Reflecting on the accidental bombing in Tudun Biri, which resulted in the loss of over 120 lives, President Tinubu described the incident as “very unfortunate, disturbing, and painful.” In Maiduguri, he reiterated, “We are not satisfied until we reach the end of insecurity in Nigeria.”
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu affirmed that security issues would remain a priority during his administration.
He emphasized a comprehensive approach, extending beyond battlefield concerns, and pledged enhanced support and benefits for the armed forces and their families, as reflected in the 2024 budget.
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, acknowledged the improving collaboration between security agencies and the state government.
He expressed commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda in the fight against insecurity, thanking President Tinubu for his leadership and promising continued support for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The Shehu of Borno urged the President to extend infrastructural interventions to areas affected by insurgency, emphasizing the need for the revival of the Lake Chad Commission and initiatives for job creation.
Tinubu commended the Shehu for supporting peace and stability in the region and pledged to involve traditional institutions actively in ensuring grassroots stability across the country.
