Tinubu targets January 2024, for implementation of 2024 Appropriation Act

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his aspiration for the 2024 Appropriation Act to take effect on January 1, 2024.

Addressing a joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja, he urged both legislative arms to diligently conclude deliberations on the 2024 budget estimates of N27.5 trillion.

Presenting the ‘Budget of Renewed Hope’ to lawmakers, Tinubu emphasized the importance of a thorough yet expeditious consideration of the budget.

He stated, “Our goal is for the Appropriation Act to come into effect on the 1st of January 2024.”

The President outlined that the budget, themed ‘Budget of Renewed Hope,’ aims to achieve micro-economic stability, poverty reduction, and improved access to social security, among other goals.

In response, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, assured the President that the budget would receive accelerated consideration.

President Tinubu, accompanied by key officials including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganjude, presented his first budget before the joint session of the National Assembly since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
