Tinubu to present Whistleblowing Policy to NASS soon for legislative review – Wale Edun

Finance Minister Wale Edun announced on Wednesday that President Bola Tinubu will soon present a whistleblowing policy to the National Assembly.

Speaking during a meeting in Abuja titled “Implementing the Whistleblowing Policy in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges, and the Way Forward,” Edun emphasized the policy’s role in promoting transparency and accountability within public institutions.

The policy is designed to protect whistleblowers and ensure thorough investigations of reported misconduct.

Edun highlighted the importance of public support for the policy and reassured that those who come forward with information will be safeguarded.

“The successful implementation of this policy hinges on receiving credible reports, conducting rigorous investigations, and enforcing legal compliance,” Edun said.

He further explained that the policy is a critical part of the government’s efforts to enhance integrity and accountability in public institutions, ensuring that they are answerable to Nigerians.
