TUC Urges Mustapha, Kyari to Pay Attention to Insecurity and Unemployment

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, on Sunday, while congratulating Boss Mustapha and Abba Kyari on their re-appointment as the Secretary to the Federal Government and Chief of Staff respectively, by President Muhammadu Buhari, urged them to focus more on the task ahead, as there were so many challenges confronting the nation, particularly issues of insecurity and unemployment among others.

According to the statement signed by the TUC President, Quadri Olaleye, and the Secretary, Musa Lawal-Ozigi, they noted that the re-appointment of Mustapha and Kyari shows that they have both performed creditably well in the first tenure of this administration.

The TUC, however, urged them to use their offices to bring to an end some of the ugly trends through policies.

The statement read in part: “It is instructive to call on their attention to the task ahead. Put differently: this is not the best of times for us as the challenges confronting the country have remained unabated for reasons best known to those behind them.

“As stabilising forces in this administration, we would like to appeal to the two principal officers to also extend their stabilising role to job creation, lasting security, and anything that would reposition the economy, ensure good governance, religious tolerance and guarantee quality social life.”
