Since the first confirmed COVID-19 case in the country, Nigeria has continued to record increases in the number of infections as the latest statistics provided by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reveal Nigeria now has 20,919 confirmed cases.
The NCDC On the 22nd of June 2020, confirmed 675 new cases, and 7 deaths were recorded in the country, from 21 states- Lagos (288), Oyo (76), Rivers (56), Delta (31), Ebonyi (30), Gombe (28), Ondo (20), Kaduna (20), Kwara (20), Ogun (17), FCT (16), Edo (13), Abia (10), Nasarawa (9), Imo (9), Bayelsa (8), Borno (8), Katsina (8), Sokoto (3), Bauchi (3), Plateau (2).
To date, 20919 cases have been confirmed, 7,109 patients have recovered and discharged while 525 have died as a result of the virus in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory
Meanwhile, Lagos has continued to be the epicentre for the spread of the virus as the state total confirmed cases is now at 8,864, with 1,480 recoveries and discharged. The state so far has recorded 126 deaths owing to the dreadful virus and 7,290 patients are still on admission receiving treatment in different isolation centres across the state.
The statistics data for other states according to NCDC are as follows: Abuja (1,583), Kano (1,190), Oyo (988), Rivers (930), Edo (797), Ogun (663), Kaduna (600), Delta (532), Gombe (479), Borno (476), Bauchi (467), Katsina (434), Jigawa (317), Ebonyi (264), Plateau (253), Imo (243).
Abia state has recorded 232 cases, Kwara (200), Nasarawa (193), Bayelsa (177), Ondo (154), Enugu (144), Sokoto (138), Zamfara (76), Kebbi (67), Anambra and Niger (66), Akwa Ibom (65), Osun (60), Yobe (56), Adamawa (45), Benue (44), Ekiti (35), Taraba (18), while Kogi state has recorded 3 cases.
