UPDATED: One dies in Egbe-Idimu LCDA, Lagos Pipeline Explosion

A yet-to-be-identified person has died in the fire incident that happened within Diamond Estate/Idowu Egba, in the Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that the fire incident was caused by suspected vandals who ruptured the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation’s pipeline in the area in a bid to scoop fuel.

The ruptured pipeline was said to have been spilling fuel continuously, leading to the fire incident that razed four locations in the community.

The Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Nosa Okunbur, who confirmed the incident said, “Upon arrival of the LASEMA Response Team as well as other emergency responders at the incident scene, it was observed that pipelines located within Diamond Estate/Idowu Egba was ruptured and spilling petrol which resulted in a fire outbreak at four points. One adult male was burnt to death. Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing.”
