We’ve received 1,500 applications from Nigerians in two months – Guinness World Records

Amidst Surge in Record Attempts, Guinness World Records Receives 1,500 Applications from Nigerians

In response to the recent wave of record-breaking attempts, Guinness World Records (GWR) has disclosed that they have received approximately 1,500 applications from individuals in Nigeria alone.

This surge in interest follows the successful record-breaking feat achieved by chef Hilda Baci, who set the new record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. Inspired by her achievement, many Nigerians have since embarked on their own record attempts.

The attention and excitement generated by Hilda Baci’s cooking marathon served as a significant motivation for numerous Nigerians to consider pursuing a Guinness World Records title. As a result, there has been a notable increase in applications from Nigeria, particularly for marathon-related records.

GWR, as reported by Legit.ng, stated, “We have received over 1,500 record applications from Nigeria since the start of May.”

In May, Hilda Baci gained recognition and fame for her remarkable accomplishment of cooking for 100 hours, surpassing the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by Indian chef Lata Tondon in 2019. Although Hilda was certified by Guinness World Records in June, her final time was recorded as 93 hours and 11 minutes after identifying certain lapses during the attempt.

It is worth noting that the range of record attempts in Nigeria has expanded beyond cooking marathons, encompassing activities such as kiss-a-thons, massaging, lecturing, praise and worship sessions, crying marathons, and even “sex-a-thon” attempts.
