Workers’ Day: FG declares Monday, May 1 as public holiday

The Federal Government has on Monday 1st of May a public holiday to mark this years’ Workers’ Day.

Rauf Aregbesola, the interior minister, made this announcement on Friday.

In a statement released on Friday and signed by Shuaib Belgore, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Aregbesola praised Nigerian workers for their tenacity, perseverance, and sacrifice.

The greatness of the nation and the respect Nigeria today enjoys in the community of countries, he continued, are largely the result of the labor of its people.

“There is dignity in labour; we have to have dedication and commitment to the work we do because it is vital to nation-building”, he stated.
