Yeye Oge of Lagos, Others Bag Awards on Beauty Industry

The Yeye Oge of Lagos Chief Mrs. Opral Benson has been honoured with an award of recognition for her role in promoting the beauty industry in Nigeria and across the African continent by AFAM International Limited, an African American leading cosmetics, hair and body products company during the beauty splash festival 2019 held on Monday, 1st of April, 2019 at LTV Blue Roof Agidingbi, Ikeja in Lagos State.

Other prominent beauticians cosmetologists, saloon owners also recognized and presented with awards for their contributions to the beauty industry includes the founder of Elegant Twins, Chief Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Osisanya, Dr. Mrs. Betty Ishoka, the national president of Nigeria Association of Hairstylists and Cosmetologist, NASHCO and Chief Mrs. Koleade.

In her acceptance speech after the award presentation, Yeye Oge of Lagos, Chief Mrs. Oprah Benson thanked the organizers for the recognition, adding that there is still more to be done to uplift the standards of the beauty Industry.

She urged Nigerians to always patronize products made by Nigerians for Nigerian hair in order to grow the industry to an enviable height.

In her own remarks, the national president of NASHCO, Dr. Mrs. Betty Ishoka said she was happy by the honour which is a recognition of how far the beauty industry has risen from its humble beginning of being associated as a profession for the “never do well” in the country to a money spinner.

She urged government to help regulate the industry due to its huge capacity in employment generation and tax revenue.

Ishoka tasked government at all levels to meet with the right leaders of the group to promote the industry through adequate funding and recognition.

In his keynote address at the occasion, the Managing Director of AFAM International Limited, Chief Charles Muoka, AFAM congratulated the awardees for their well deserved honour for setting the pace in the beauty industry in Nigeria.

He said, ”AFAM is a one stop cosmetics company for African American Concept in Cosmetics, Body and Hair products with the slogan “Embrace the Beauty” while providing women and men around the world with quality solutions for their personal hair care needs.

Muoka further stated that, “The 25 years journey of AFAM in the beauty industry started with the production of the Hawaiian Silky “Miracle” Worker 24-in-1 leave-in conditioner which was created to solve the problems of dryness, breakages and frizz associated with coarse and curly hair”.

AFAM Managing Director revealed that from the success of Hawaiian Silky among beauty enthusiasts, the company expanded its product line to include shampoo, conditioner and styling products for everyone with special focus on multicultural hair care products.

“For over the past 25 years, we have manufactured and distributed hair care, products from our corporate facility in Chicago, IL. Our brand have become staples to salons, distributors and consumers alike through the US, and internationally including Nigeria”, Muoka stated.

He added that “We have distributors nationwide in Nigeria and our products have been known for the past 25 years as quality hair care solutions for women and men around the world for their personal care needs.
